Assistant Professor-Writing

The Department of English, Humanities, and Languages at Southeastern Oklahoma State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The successful candidate will teach both upper and lower level writing courses, including Writing and Visual Media and Business and Professional Writing, as well as General Education and online Graduate courses. Preference given to candidates with secondary expertise in literary theory, developmental writing, and/or Spanish. Candidates must have an ability to teach online and a willingness to obtain Quality Matters certification. Ph.D. in English, Composition and Rhetoric, or a closely related field in hand by June 1, 2023 required. Given that Southeastern is a Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institution, experience working with Native American students and/or faculty is preferred. Candidates will be required to participate in scholarly activities and in service to the department and university.

 

Southeastern Oklahoma State University, founded in 1909 as a teacher college, continues the strong tradition of producing outstanding educators for southeast Oklahoma and north Texas.  Student enrollment on the campus(es) is approximately 5,300 and the campus is situated in rural Oklahoma.  The main campus is located in Durant, Oklahoma, which is 80 miles north of Dallas, Texas, and 150 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. The community is close to Lake Texoma and the Choctaw Casino Resort. Southeastern Oklahoma State University continues to be among the nation’s most affordable universities according to the U. S. News & World Report’s America’s Best Colleges.

 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The start date is August 1, 2023. Review of applications will begin January 15, 2023 and continue until filled.  Position and responsibilities may require varied time and delivery methods.
