Xavier University is seeking a collaborative individual with exceptional strategic, operations, financial and interpersonal skills to serve as the Associate Vice President, Financial Planning & Budgets.

As the primary staff member for the University Planning and Resource Council, the Associate Vice President, Financial Planning & Budgets has full ownership and decision-making responsibilities which includes implementation and documentation for the Managerial Accounting System, the planning and administration of the multi-year Operating, Strategic Planning, and Capital financial plans. This position serves as a key leader and strategist in the development and integration of the financial aspects of Xavier’s Integrated Plan and collaborates with Financial Aid and the Provost’s Budget and Planning area.

Reporting to the CBO, this position is a member of the President’s Cabinet, and CBO’s Executive Team, and will assist the CBO in supporting the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees. The Associate Vice President, Financial Planning & Budgets is responsible for the management of the Planning and Budgets office, consisting of five professional employees, and will regularly consult with senior management, faculty, and others throughout the University in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.

Key areas of responsibility include the following:
  • Collaborating with all University departments and areas in developing and planning their budgets.
  • Coordinates and prepares the University’s annual spending plan.
  • Develops and updates all long-range financial planning documents in collaboration with the Senior Leadership team and others as required.
  • Develops, updates, and communicates administrative policies relating to the budget and budget process.
  • Supports the generation of additional net tuition revenue by providing strategic leadership through more effective management and discounting of Financial Aid.
  • Evaluates the financial system and reporting needs of the finance group and University community relative to the budget function.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • MBA required.
  • At least ten years of related budget planning and analysis experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and expertise in the areas of budget, finance, planning, and policy analysis.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Highly developed collaborative skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software as needed to create and analyze budgets.
