Job Summary:  Under the supervision of the Vice President for Mission and Equity, the Campus Minister serves the religious and spiritual needs of students, faculty and staff by making provisions for worship, fellowship, outreach, and educational opportunities. The Campus Minister seeks to help students integrate their faith and learning by fostering Franciscan values. Additionally, the Campus Minister offers students a variety of opportunities for building relationships, faith development, enrichment, spiritual counseling, on and off campus programs, discussions, community outreach, faith sharing, and worship. Catholic services, Franciscan prayer services, and Catholic faith formation are provided.  Religious, diversity and social justice is valued and celebrated with interfaith and ecumenical events and services.  Develop an atmosphere and environment that radiates the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, and challenges all to authentic appreciation of spiritual and religious values. Plan, coordinate, and execute mission-based programs, on-going formation programs, liturgical activities, retreats, service projects, prayer vigils, and Masses. Adheres to and supports the sacramental and Liturgical policies of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo. Provide pastoral and spiritual support to all members of the Hilbert Community. Assist with planning the annual St. Francis Week, and other events and programs that will enrich the students’ understanding of their faith and further the Catholic Franciscan tradition and mission of Hilbert College. Responsible for assisting the Vice President for Mission and Equity with the sacramental and spiritual life of the College community, along with the Campus Ministry Club. Integrates the intellectual, pastoral, and vocational elements essential to spiritual and faith formation. Ensures opportunities for Catholic faith formation and the integration of Catholic values including but not limited to care for creation and universal sisterhood/brotherhood. Provides peer ministry/lay leadership development. Animates a faith that does justice. Promotes the growth of ecumenical and interfaith dimensions of campus life and connects faith leaders of diverse communities. Fosters a relationship with the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph, founders of Hilbert College, and promotes their heritage and spirituality. Actively participate in the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo Campus Ministry Family’s meetings and activities. Collaborate with the National Catholic Campus Ministry Association and the Association of Franciscan Colleges and Universities. Represents the College to outside groups and organizations in situations that are relevant to mission.

Requirements/Qualifications:  In-depth knowledge, lived experience, and understanding of the Catholic faith. Must be a person of faith and prayer. Deep understanding of, and respect for, and willingness to promote the Catholic faith tradition, Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic sacramental life. Supports the teachings of the Catholic Church including moral and pastoral teachings. Willingness to understand and promote Franciscan core values and the Franciscan Intellectual Tradition and ability to bring insights and values of the Catholic Franciscan Tradition into conversation with the contemporary world of students, faculty and staff. Ability to embrace and persuasively articulate the Catholic Franciscan mission, vision and values of Hilbert College. Ability to work with diverse population and create a welcoming and inclusive environment. Commitment to fostering the heritage and educational mission of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph and the Catholic identity of Hilbert College. Embodies servant leadership, characterized by listening, openness, and availability. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Creativity; Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including some overnights and weekends. Ability to multi-task in a busy environment. Experience working with students, youth ministry and/or campus ministry. Bachelor’s Degree in Theology or Religious Studies. Master’s Degree in Theology or Religious Studies preferred.
