The Department of Languages and Literature at Virginia State University is accepting applications for one or more full-time and or part-time instructor appointments, pending funding, and beginning in August 2023.
Full-time instructors teach 12 hours (4/4 load) per semester, mainly in the first-year composition program. Full-time, non-tenure-track positions are renewable yearly with a salary of $50,000 ($55,000 with a Ph.D.), plus health and retirement benefits.
Part-time instructors teach 3-9 hours per semester, mainly in the first-year composition program, and earn $3,000-4,100 per course, depending on academic rank.
Applicants should have a Ph.D., MA, or M.F.A. in English or a related discipline by August 1, 2023. With proper certification, online asynchronous opportunities may be available, but a willingness to teach in-person courses is preferable.
