Job Description Summary
Wentworth Institute of Technology is seeking applicants interested in joining the Wentworth community as an Instructional Designer in Learning Innovation and Technology. Currently, there is a need to fill TWO (2) Instructional Designer positions.
The Instructional Designers will be scheduled on a hybrid basis, with an on-campus presence in Boston, MA, required on average 1-2 days per week.

The Teaching & Learning Collaborative is seeking a full-time Instructional Designer (ID) to join a dynamic team to foster innovation in teaching and learning to enhance student learning in face-to-face, hybrid and online courses .
This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking professional who is passionate about working at the intersection of teaching, learning, and technology, aimed at supporting inclusive and accessible educational experiences.
Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Learning Design Solutions, Instructional Designers build positive working relationships with faculty to guide application of course design and delivery best practices such as active learning strategies and to encourage meaningful adoption of learning management systems and academic technology. They leverage their expertise in learning design and skills with academic technology to bring emerging technologies and best practices to Wentworth students.

Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, instructional technology or teaching related discipline .
Strong knowledge in and 1-3 years of experience working as an instructional designer or part of an educational role
Advertised Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in education, instructional design, or teaching related discipline with 4 or more years working as an instructional designer . Experience in a higher education setting . Experience authoring in a learning management system (for example: Brightspace, Canvas, Blackboard);
Demonstrated knowledge of developing materials using a universal design approach; and appropriate integration of multimedia, academic technology, collaboration tools, and accessible digital learning materials. Knowledge of current and emerging instructional design methodologies with a good understanding of pedagogy/learning theories and instructional design models. Strong skills in collaboration, relationship building, influence, and project management. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment with customer service orientation and the ability to solve problems with creativity and flexibility.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty, build relationships, and influence teaching and learning strategies. Effectively conveys and receives ideas, information, and directions. Listens actively and seeks to clarify and confirm the accuracy of their understanding. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Prioritizes and plans work using time effectively, meets deadlines, and follows through on commitments. Identifies, solves, and escalates problems in a timely manner. Works with others to achieve desired results by contributing to team projects, exchanging ideas and opinions, resolves conflicts, developing positive working relationships. Is flexible, open-minded, and promotes mutual respect. Identifies and responds quickly and effectively to customer needs and follows up to ensure customer satisfaction.
Experience transitioning between course management systems, online learning course development (Quality Matters a plus), extensive experience with multimedia authoring tools, collaboration tools, and accessible digital learning materials. Strong understanding of active and inclusive learning theories, assessment, and approaches to hybrid/online learning. Experience with STEAM teaching methods and strategies a plus. Demonstrated ability to be open minded and flexible with excellent collaboration, relationship building, influence skills, and project management skills.
