Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, direction, and supervision of fitness programs and facilities, including strength and conditioning, group fitness, personal and small group training, fitness assessments, outreach and special events.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the supervision of two full time staff members, the Fitness Program Coordinator and the Maintenance Technician.
  • Supervise a fitness graduate assistant and 60 student fitness instructors, personal trainers, and fitness specialists.
  • Develop, implement, and supervise, a comprehensive offering of formal and informal fitness programs and services.
  • Develop, administer, and monitor the annual fitness program operational budget.
  • Manage 30,000 sq. ft of fitness facilities to include the fitness center, conditioning room, and four fitness studios.
  • Coordinate the execution of facility/equipment audits, preventative maintenance schedules, and repair and replacement of equipment.
  • Assure appropriate risk management standards are in place for all fitness programs and services to meet or exceed industry standards.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans that drive growth, continuous improvement, safety, quality of programs, and participant satisfaction.
  • Provide program reviews and assessment related to strategic initiatives, student learning outcomes, and participant satisfaction.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies for all fitness programs, both formal and informal.


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in exercise science, recreation, or related field
  • Personal Trainer or Group Fitness Instructor Certification from a nationally accredited body

Required Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of related experience managing fitness programs


Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Personal Trainer/Fitness Instructor Certification in multiple modalities
  • Ability to teach multiple group exercise formats

Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Exercise Science or related field

Preferred Experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in collegiate recreation setting
  • Experience in supervision of full and part time staff
  • Experience training fitness instructors and personal trainers


Proposed Salary

$52,000 - $57,000

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
