Position Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Vice President - Enrollment, the incumbent will work with end users in scoping projects, providing detailed business analysis, outlining business rules, and providing documents for processes handled by the Student Information Management System in support of Enrollment Services functions and operations.

The incumbent will participate in, and if required lead the design, planning, and implementation of complex projects. They will provide consultation and facilitate the analysis and definition of business rules, service levels, and user requirements, and work cross-functionally to solve problems, improve processes, and implement changes.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego. This position is scheduled to work three days on campus and two days from the telecommuting site. However, the schedule may vary based on operational needs.

Department Summary

Enrollment Services comprises Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, Evaluations, Office of the Registrar, Prospective Student Services, and Enrollment Communications. Enrollment Services implements SDSU enrollment management policies and provides services to students from their initial point of interest in SDSU to their graduation.

Education and Experience

To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in applications programming and systems analysis and related programming support functions is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or business, or equivalent training and applied experience. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Analyst/Programmer, depending on the position assignment, may include working knowledge of a specific industry standard applications programming language and knowledge of standard systems analysis techniques.

Key Qualifications
  • Four years (more are preferable) of complex system analysis and hands-on project management experience, preferably in a highly regulated environment (education, healthcare, military, etc.) is required for this position.
  • Project management experience in software development and system integration.
  • Experience in the business analysis of application development and project management in higher education or other regulated industries.
  • General knowledge of SQL, object-oriented programming concepts, and relational database design.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems.
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.
  • A Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in computer science, information systems, business, or a related technical field.
  • Previous experience working in a college or university
  • Working experience with Linux/Unix operating system environments is a plus.
  • Development experience in student information systems is desired.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $7,917 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,678 - $11,547 per month.
