The ideal candidate would be within driving distance to our main data center (Sterling, VA) or corporate offices (Charles Town, WV)

The Network Administrator position will be a mid-level position and will assist with configuring, installation, troubleshooting and maintaining our enterprise network infrastructure, which consist of 16+ sites. The position requires a wide and up-to-date knowledge of networking technologies, with a strong focus on Cisco-based technologies (Switches, routers, VPN firewalls, wireless) also working knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls and F5 load balancers a plus. An ideal candidate will be able to complete intermediate to difficult assignments independently. The position also involves working with other network engineers to design, install, configure, and support the organization's complex WAN/LAN infrastructure. Our department also assures that proper monitoring/backups (Solarwinds), and secure/stable software versions are maintained on all network-related hardware. The successful candidate will be expected to document all projects that he/she has been assigned, as well update existing documentation along with clear communication with our colleagues.

Responsibilities:

• Provides support for production enterprise environments, campuses, co-location facilities, and data centers
• Manages ticket queue and works to resolve all tickets assigned to network team
• Implements, manages, and troubleshoots network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, F5 load-balancers and wireless LAN controllers
• Supports Meraki wireless and switching technologies
• Assists and coordinates in the design, configuration, testing, and implementation of information technology (IT) security solutions and security enhancements
• Assists in the identification, diagnoses, and resolves IT security related issues - in the context of network infrastructure
• Works with engineering team on assigned projects
• Assists in the support of VoIP infrastructure
• Maintains the network hardware and software and monitors the network to ensure availability for all users
• Provides support to other network engineers, systems engineers, voice engineers and help desk escalations
• Participates in activities related to contingency planning, business continuity and IT disaster recovery planning
• Manages updates, patches, upgrades, and code deployments to ensure system availability
• Recommends, schedules, and performs network improvements, upgrades, and repairs
• Works with vendors and remote technicians to solve site problems such as circuit issues
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

• Thorough working knowledge of wide area network (WAN) and local area network (LAN)
• A solid understanding of routing technologies
• Working knowledge of networking protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, QoS, VPN, IPSLA, 802.1q, spanning tree, layer 3 switching, 802.1x, VTP,
• Familiarity working with Cisco Catalyst and Dell Switches
• Knowledge of Cisco Anyconnect VPN and ISE related components
• Meraki MR and MS technology
• Proven judgment and demonstrated understanding of operational priorities
• Must be flexible enough to meet the demands of a fluid and changing environment
• Excellent problem-solving abilities
• Methodical, organized and detail oriented
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to learn new skills as needed

Required Experience:

• Three to seven years of experience in a mid-sized to large Microsoft/Cisco environment
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Information Technology preferred or equivalent experience required
• Experience with network monitoring - Solarwinds NCM is highly desired
• Establishing and troubleshooting VPNs - remote access and site-to-site
• F5 Load Balancer Experience - Administration, Certificates and Ciphers, Irules
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within network administration required
• Preferred certifications include CCNA, CCNP, Security+
