The Music Department at Dordt University seeks an adjunct faculty member to provide piano lessons on the collegiate level for music majors and minors as well as students holding a keyboard scholarship. Primary responsibilities include providing private instruction in piano, holding regular studio classes, and teaching a Piano Pedagogy and Literature course. Additional responsibilities could include serving as a staff accompanist, developing keyboard curriculum and program offerings, assessing piano proficiency progress for music majors, supervision of student accompanists, and teaching other music courses, given applicant interest, qualifications, and ability. A master's degree in music is required for this position, as is commitment to teach Christianly from a Reformed perspective.

The Dordt University Music Department has a strong history of preparing students for subsequent graduate studies and professional musical activities as church musicians and music teachers. The department features prominent, well-maintained keyboard instruments (e.g., a Steinway model D grand piano, a Dekker Harpsichord, etc.). We feature five instrumental and five choral ensembles that pursue excellence performing vibrant and diverse literature, each semester.

This is an adjunct position, and the person who fills this role will be a valued contributor to our Music Department mission: The mission of the Dordt University Music Department is to provide excellent and diverse musical experiences that enable students, constituents, and the broader community to discover, develop, and share the gift of music in ways that bring glory to God.

Qualified candidates committed to a Reformed, Biblical perspective and educational philosophy are encouraged to follow the adjunct faculty application process using the link below. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
