POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Student Success leads a holistic advising program that supports students from admission through graduation. This position will enhance orientation, advising, and matriculation success. The implements new strategies, re-envision existing programs, and increase, student persistence. The Director reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
PRIMARY DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• The Director of Student Success will establish relevant policies, procedures, and practices to support student retention.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Academic Advisors.
• Provide leadership for first year and transfer experience.
• Build institutional awareness, support program assessment, and provide consultation on retention and persistence.
• Oversee recruitment of and training for first-year experience course instructors
• Develop, lead, assess, and enhance early intervention strategies.
• Develop, implement, and assess first-year experience and transfer policies, procedures, and practices
• Develop and monitor annual budget.
• Collaborate and provide support for orientation and advising activities.
• Serve on university committees.
• Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
• The Director will possess strong oral and written communication skills. The Director will build rapport with students, personnel, and community members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master's degree from accredited college or university
• Experience developing and implementing student success programs.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and flexibility in problem-solving
• Excellent organizational, writing, interpersonal, and speaking skills
• Experience facilitating collaboration within a diverse constituency.
• Genuine desire and ability to work with and relate to college students.
• Experience with student information system and web-based applications relevant to the duties of the Director.
REPORTS TO: Vice President for Academic Affairs
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., M – F, with occasional evening and weekend activities
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Professional Full-time, FLSA Exempt.
