Job Description

DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for enhancing the mission of the Harte Research Institute through major gifts from foundation and corporate donors locally, regionally, and nationally, and in some instances internationally.

Functional Area 1: Development and Support

Percent Effort: 60%

Job Duties
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit corporate partners for support of strategic priorities of the Harte Research Institute (HRI).
  • Direct the identification and cultivation of prospective foundation and corporate fundraising initiatives to support HRI activities.
  • Responsible for the preparation and submission of foundation and corporate gift proposals.
  • Coordinate stewardship efforts to maintain positive relationships with existing HRI corporate and foundation donors.
  • Meet with HRI development leadership on a weekly or more frequent basis, to advance development and fundraising goals.
  • Co-design and support HRI Director of Development with annual campaign and year end appeal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate with university Institutional Advancement needs.


Functional Area 2: Administration

Percent Effort: 30%

Job Duties
  • Maintains database and generates fundraising reports as directed by HRI Senior Executive Director.
  • Responsible for all gift documentation, donor letters, and provides donor recognition information to HRI MARCOMM for publication.
  • Responsible for the HRI scholarship process and that it adheres to the TAMUCC guidelines. Maintains records for audit purposes.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Functional Area 3: Outreach

Percent Effort: 10%

Job Duties
  • Assists in developing, coordinating, and implementing special events, as related to donor relations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two (2) years related experience.
  • Additional education and/or experience may be considered as a substitution for the minimum qualification requirements.
  • Demonstrated foundation and corporate grant writing expertise and proficiency
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain positive relationships with donors and prospective donors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including expertise in formal proposal and grant writing.
  • Relate well to all coworkers, peers and leadership not only at the Harte Research Institute but of the University as a whole.
  • Passionate about the mission of the Harte Research Institute and the well-being and sustainability of the Gulf of Mexico.
  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams).


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in related field and foundation and corporate fundraising experience at a university.
  • Five to seven (5-7) years of experience and proficiency in securing major grants from foundations and corporations.
  • Raiser's Edge experience.
