Job Description

The University of Missouri Print & Mail Services department is looking for a full-time, benefit eligible, mail carrier/processor. This is a great opportunity to learn and grow within the printing and mail department. This is a multi-role title that will assist in several job functions. Must be at least 18 years of age and requires a valid driver’s license and a good driving record to operate small to medium size delivery vehicles

Duties include:
Perform a variety of duties to process mail, both incoming and outgoing.

This would include, sorting and delivering incoming mail to campus buildings in accordance with prescribed routes.

In addition, process outgoing mail which requires basic computer knowledge to accurately address, weigh, and apply postage via automated mail equipment.

Good physical health to withstand walking and driving under varying adverse road and weather conditions.

Will need to be able to push, pull, press, twist, carry and lift moderately heavy objects on a daily basis (maximum of 70 pounds).

Able to learn and use portable electronic scanner for tracking packages and other items.

Work professionally with others employees and have the ability to deal with people in a courteous manner.

Ability to operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other dock equipment as needed to facilitate the loading and offloading of materials.

Must keep records of deliveries and perform other routine clerical and filing duties.

Obtain authorized signatures for delivered and received items when needed.

Because of fluctuating workloads, it is common for staff to assist with other department operations such as assisting with print operations and other various duties.

Helpful skills include:
Have a can-do attitude and be willing to work with a team.

Detail oriented, self-starter, with a willingness to learn.

Be willing to work overtime as needed.

Salary

Salary: $16.00 hourly

GGS Grade: C

University Title: MAIL CARRIER I

Minimum Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • A valid Missouri driver’s license.
  • Good physical health to withstand walking occasionally under adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry a maximum of 70 pounds.
  • Above average hand-to-eye coordination
  • Ability to deal with people in a courteous manner.
