INSTRUCTOR OF COMMUNICATION STUDIES The Department of Communication Studies and Theatre seeks a full-time Instructor beginning August 2023.

Successful candidates will have an M.A. or Ph.D.  in Communication or a related field.  Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching oral communication at the college level.

Responsibilities include teaching multiple sections of our first-year oral communication general education course and possibly an upper-level course in the candidate’s area of expertise. The successful candidate will show a commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population within a liberal arts context and will be willing to participate in the College’s First Year Seminar and General Education programs. The teaching load is 24-semester credits per year (4-4 distribution).

GENERAL INFORMATION: Bridgewater College was founded in 1880 as the first coeducational college in Virginia. Bridgewater offers bachelor’s degrees in approximately 60 majors and minors, along with four graduate programs, pre-professional programs such as medicine and law, and teacher licensure. The College is a member of NCAA Division III and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, with 23 intercollegiate athletic teams. The vibrant residential campus is located in the town of Bridgewater, Virginia, near the city of Harrisonburg in the center of the Shenandoah Valley. An excellent school system, healthy business environment, numerous arts and cultural events, one of the state's lowest crime rates, and a variety of outdoor opportunities and historic attractions draw many to the region.
