Duties and Responsibilities

Loyola University Chicago ( LUC ), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Modern Languages & Literatures, invites applications for a full-time Lecturer of French (non-tenure-track, 3-year term, renewable), beginning academic year 2023-2024. The French section of MLL serves approximately 20 majors in French and approximately 80 minors in two concentrations, French and French Language & Literature. The successful candidate will be joining a department with more than 20 full-time faculty members, over 12 majors and minors, and a graduate program in Hispanic Studies. Teaching responsibilities will include a 4-4 teaching load. Courses will range from beginning to advanced-level French as well as the Composition & Conversation sequence, and may include courses in literature in translation. The position also includes coordination of French language courses.

Qualifications

The candidate should have a PhD in French or a related field at the time of appointment. Candidates for the position must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and have a record of (or clear potential for) student mentorship. The candidate should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
