The Department of Microbiology, Immunology & Tropical Medicine at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position to be filled at the assistant professor level. We seek a dynamic scientist working in Human immunology. This includes, but is not limited to, immunity to infectious agents, neuro-immune crosstalk, mucosal immunity, cancer immunology, computational immunology, durable immunity in tissues, or autoimmune diseases. We encourage applications from members of groups that are traditionally underrepresented in science and medicine.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include wet and/or dry bench research using cutting-edge technologies to provide insights into immune processes that can be utilized to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and outcomes of patients with immune-related pathologies. The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent, externally funded research program that aligns with our institutional efforts to develop clinically actionable insights into diseases involving the immune system. Teaching responsibilities are an integral component of this position and include mentoring graduate and medical students. Clinical responsibilities may include contributing to the institution’s clinical programs, including substantial teaching and/or contributions to clinical research programs. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary commensurate with experience, a competitive start-up package, and structured mentoring support/incentives related to their growth as independent investigators.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must hold a PhD and/or MD or equivalent degree in an appropriate discipline with a demonstrated track record of research productivity as evidenced by publications and funding. The potential to develop cross-disciplinary collaborations within and outside of the department is essential.

You will also be asked to provide the names and contact information of at least 3 references. Review of applications will begin on March 1, 2023, and continue until the position is filled. Only complete applications will be considered. Employment offers are contingent on the satisfactory outcome of a standard background screening.
