Responsibilities

The BASSW program prepares students for transfer, workforce, or continued education in the Social Work industry. The successful applicant is expected to:

  • Teach required courses that prepare students for the BASSW workforce or transfer.
  • To collaborate with college faculty and administrators in contributing to the future vision and scope of BASSW programs at the college.
  • To remain current in the field and adapt courses to meet changing BASSW job skills and qualification requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with teaching Social Work students in the practice or higher education setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate of Social Work (DSW) or PhD in Social Work.
  • Professional or academic background in Social Work.
  • Two or more years of experience in the Social Work industry.
  • Experience developing and implementing diverse instructional approaches using technology, service learning, or internships.
  • Experience in curriculum development and in assessing learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Universal Design for Learning and accessibility; and experience using a learning management system, preferably Canvas.

Salary

Salary and Appointment:

  • The salary range for a full-time tenure-track Bachelors of Applied Science in Social Work instructor for Fall Quarter 2023 is $70,021.00 (master’s level) -$74,021.00 (doctorate level), depending on highest degree earned. In addition, $350 per every verified year of experience. State-funded commitments will increase the starting salary for the 174-day annual contract.

Benefit Package:

  • The position comes with a full benefits package, including health, dental, life, long-term disability insurance and a retirement plan.
  • Accrues 7 hours per month sick leave while on contract (10 months).
