Job Description:

Fulfills essential functions that are central to the success of the Office of Study Abroad. Functions include but are not limited to international program and risk management, student advising, marketing and outreach, strategic planning, and institutional relations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of study abroad programs
  • Provide individualized study abroad advising to student applicants
  • Assist students through the study abroad application process
  • Evaluate and make decisions on student applications
  • Liaise with academic departments and administrative offices on campus
  • Work with consular offices to help students navigate visa application processes
  • Assist with study abroad recruitment and outreach efforts
  • Lead informational sessions and study abroad pre-departure meetings
  • Maintain communication with international partners and staff abroad
  • Respond professionally to student, parent, and institutional-partner concerns and questions
  • Participate in designing and facilitating study abroad reentry programming
  • Oversee work of interns, student workers, and/or onsite staff as delegated
  • Manage evaluations and assessments of study abroad programs
  • Assist in strategic planning, program development, and outreach/marketing
  • Conduct international site visits as needed
  • Participate in professional development by attending conferences, workshops, and webinars

Requirements:

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree, preferably in international studies or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in the field of International Education
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Professional working proficiency in a language other than English
  • Extensive experience studying, working, and/or living abroad
  • Familiarity with study abroad best practices
  • Working knowledge of study abroad operating software and/or or willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
  • While candidates with professional working proficiency in any language in addition to English will be considered, candidates with proficiency in French and/or Italian are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Work or study experience in the Global South (Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, Africa, and/or Oceania)
  • Ability to effectively use a variety of social media platforms to increase visibility
  • Experience with organizing and leading student groups
