Purpose of Position
This position in the Office of Student Financial Assistance coordinates the administration of athletic financial aid to ensure compliance with NCAA regulations.
The incumbent acts as a liaison for the Office of Student Financial Assistance with student-athletes, the Office of Intercollegiate Athletics, the Office of the Registrar, and Student Account Services. As a Coordinator, the incumbent will also provide advice to students and parents on the availability of federal, state, and institutional aid programs. This includes assisting students from the application process to the delivery of aid.
This position will also work with university offices to resolve student issues while delivering exceptional service to students, parents, and the university community.
Primary Responsibilities
• Input all athletic scholarships into the financial aid software, SIGMA ProSam
• Input all monthly scholarships for payment to student-athletes
• Review and process academic scholarships received by student-athletes and determine if aid is considered countable or not countable aid as defined by the NCAA
• Input student athlete book scholarships each term and manually pay the scholarship through SIGMA ProSam
• Input all financial aid received by student-athletes into the NCAA compliance Assistant Software
• Serve as liaison for the Office of Student Financial Assistance with the student-athlete, the Office of Intercollegiate Athletics, the Office of the Registrar, and the Office of the Bursar
• Review on an ongoing basis all financial aid and athletic aid awarded to student-athletes
• Input and review of athletic aid into SIGMA ProSam. This requires interpretation of the student-athletes’ bills through SAP
• Review and analyze the squad list equivalency for NCAA compliance
• Work with Information Technology to develop reports and make modifications to SIGMA ProSam as necessary
• Stay abreast of all NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to athletically-related financial aid. Input all athletic scholarships into the financial aid software, SIGMA ProSam
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience in financial aid or a related field are required.
Applicants must possess high levels of organizational, and customer service skills, and an ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Excellent verbal, telephone communication, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
Must have exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multi-task successfully within multiple deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, anticipate needs, and work as part of a team. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Access, Excel, and Word.
