Director of Cybersecurity Education

The Department of Computing, Mathematics and Physics (CMP) at Messiah University invites applications for a full-time Director of Cybersecurity Education.

The Department: The department serves a wide range of majors in CIS, cybersecurity, mathematics, actuarial science, and physics, in addition to providing service courses for other fields of study, primarily engineering.

Responsibilities: As Director of Cybersecurity Education, the candidate will be responsible for managing and developing the cybersecurity education program and cybersecurity education initiatives at Messiah University. The Director will: Recruit students to the undergraduate cybersecurity major; Maintain NSA designation as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD); Explore strategic opportunities for the cybersecurity programs at Messiah; Network with external industry partners to develop student internships, and advise the University on emerging industry needs; Support the department chair in recruiting adjunct teaching faculty and fill approved faculty positions in cybersecurity; Plan and lead the Cyber summer camp for secondary students and other outreach events; Teach 1-3 courses annually in introductory to advanced undergraduate cybersecurity; Serve as academic advisor to students in the department; Contribute to departmental and institutional initiatives. Depending on academic qualifications, the position may be a term-tenure track faculty position or an administrative position.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of cybersecurity and demonstrate compelling administrative and leadership skills. A PhD or commensurate doctorate in Computer Science or a related field with a strong cybersecurity focus is preferred. Strong candidates with a Master’s degree and extensive work experience in cybersecurity or a related field will also be considered.
