Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Vice President of Finance

Eastern Mennonite University (EMU), a leading faith-informed peace and justice university located in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, is pleased to announce an opening for its chief operating officer (COO) and financial officer (VP Finance). The University invites applications and nominations for the position beginning immediately with an anticipated start date of July 3, 2023. EMU seeks a collaborative and entrepreneurial leader who will serve as the steward of financial health of the university and who will work in concert with 200 staff, 90 full-time faculty, and approximately 70 adjunct faculty, to significantly advance the noble mission and culture of community care of this remarkable Anabaptist-inspired liberal arts university. 

 

Reporting to the President and serving as a key member of the President’s Executive Leadership Team and Cabinet, the COO/VP of Finance is responsible for a large and diverse portfolio of work energized by devoted staff in the areas of business, facilities, auxiliary services, human resources, campus safety & security, information systems, and food service. The COO/VP of Finance is a principal advisor to the President and is responsible for ensuring workforce sustainability, preparing financial analysis, budgetary reports and long-range projections for the President and Board of Trustees. 

 

Founded in 1917, EMU is an educational institution of the Mennonite Church USA. The University offers rigorous academic study at the undergraduate, graduate, and seminary levels and confers degrees in the liberal arts, applied sciences, and professions. More than 2,000 students are enrolled in programs at three locations (main campus in Harrisonburg, VA; Lancaster, PA; and Washington DC) and online.
