Gettysburg College, in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and energetic individual to fill the role of Director of Dining Services.  Dining Services at Gettysburg College is an award winning, self-operated program, with over $12 million in annual revenue and encompassing a large student dining facility, catering facilities, and retail dining locations.  The Director of Dining Services performs a variety of administrative, managerial, and planning duties to facilitate highly successful campus dining programs. Additionally, the Director of Dining Services is responsible for leading and directing many multi-talented employees who are creative, innovative, and utilize their talents in a cooperative manner to achieve common goals. 

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Developing a vision for the future of the Dining Program at Gettysburg College and be able to share and articulate that vision with superiors and subordinates in a cohesive manner Setting goals for the dining services team to achieve on a periodic basis Ensuring that Dining Administrative staff is working to its full potential through periodic reviews and analysis Developing and monitors and annual budget of twelve million dollars for all areas in Dining Services. Maintaining and presenting financial analysis and metrics to areas for management purposes. Working with the catering manager to ensure high standards are met for catering events. Analyzing and adjusting meal plans based on the changing needs of the campus population.

The Director of Dining Services will be responsible for all aspects of the Dining Services program and will need to provide a clear and vibrant vision for the future of the campus dining programs.  The successful candidate will work with a large team of administrators and staff to provide an ever-changing student body, faculty, and staff with a prodigious amount of dining options.  The Director of Dining Services will oversee all facets of the program from budget management to employee relations.

 

A bachelor’s degree is required, along with at least five to seven years of progressively responsible food service management experience. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a college or university food service management position with a proven track record of successful operations. Considerable knowledge of institutional food service is required, with knowledge of higher education and how food services support institutional initiatives is preferred. Successful candidates should possess considerable technological, organizational, and leadership skills; knowledge of supervisory principles and practices, budget planning and implementation, and current trends in the areas of commercial and institutional food services. The Director of Dining Services is 12-month, full-time administrative appointment.  Salary is commensurate with experience and is complemented by an excellent benefits package including medical and dental insurance, paid time off, flexible spending accounts, 403(b) retirement contribution, dependent tuition benefits, and parent leave.
