Assistant Director of Student Transitions and Family Programs

 

Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the Assistant Director of Student Transitions and Family Programs.

 

 

 

The Office of Student Transitions & Family Programs (STFP) develops and facilitates programs, initiatives, and services to support the transitional needs of new and current undergraduate students and their family members at Coastal Carolina University. The office designs programs to engage, challenge, develop, and support participants. STFP develops orientation and transitional programs for all incoming students that help prepare them for experiencing college life, as well as the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead—academically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially. The department also supports current students as they persist along their journey towards success and becoming proud Chanticleer Alumni.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to: the primary responsibilities include the development, planning, management, and assessment of existing transition programs; propose and develop new student and family transition programs; maintain communication with campus partners regarding the planning of and/or the participation in orientation, transition, and family programming; assist the Director with the development of and manage departmental communication initiatives (via emails, text messages, print communications, etc.) and oversee the production and editing of departmental electronic and print materials; assist in development of the department’s student staff leadership development program; collaborate with the Campus Programs and Traditions to create and plan dynamic welcome week(s) programming for all new students prior to classes beginning in the fall and spring; assist with the promotion, facilitation, and management of all orientation programs as requested; develop and implement year-round general and population-specific transition programming; engage in a practice of on-going assessment of the programs, initiatives, services, and student leaders in conjunction with Professional Staff Team; and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and related experience is required.  A valid driver’s license is required. A master’s degree in Higher/Adult Education, College Student Personnel, Student Development, Organizational/Educational Leadership or an equivalent degree program is preferred. Two (2) years of full-time professional experience working in higher education administrative work involving admissions, orientation programs, leadership development, student activities, student life, or related field is preferred. Direct experience with orientation and/or transition programming for undergraduate students and a general understanding of student development, leadership development and student transition issues are preferred.

Student Services Program Coordinator II (CB70/61122797/FTE-S00784P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 05. Salary range: $35,360.00 (minimum) - $50,394.00 (midpoint).  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.  Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
