Basic Functions
Under the Direction of the Noncredit Coordinator or as delegated, provide support to ESL students or GED test takers.

Please Note - Hourly employees are permitted to work up to 19.5hrs per week. These assignments do not include additional benefits. Assignments go towards our fiscal year(7/1 - 6/30) limitations. These limits include:
  • 1000 hours worked per Fiscal Year
    175 calendar days during a Fiscal Year


Representative Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Support students
  • Greet and help register students/test-takers.
  • Orient new students/test takers.
  • Help students/test takers accurately complete admission and registration forms.
  • Circulate in the classroom/testing center to assist students/test taker
  • Provide support to ensure the students complete tasks.

  • Support instructors/assessment specialist
  • Monitor student work/ help proctor the GED exams.
  • Distribute materials.
  • Occasional duplicating and printing.
  • Work with individuals and small groups under the instructor's/assessment specialist guidance.
  • Assist instructors/assessment specialists according to the class/testing needs.
  • Work cooperatively
  • Provide feedback when appropriate.
  • Help maintain student/test taker records
  • Assist instructor/assessment specialist to keep track of student testing needs and schedules.

  • Other Duties
  • Submit accurate timesheets on time.
  • Support setup and breakdown of the classroom/test center as needed.


  • Education and Experience

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
    • Equivalent to graduation from high school.
    • Ability to use computer software and hardware.


    Knowledge and Abilities

    KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Policy and objective of assigned programs and activities.
  • Course outlines or testing policies and guidelines.
  • Recordkeeping.
  • Telephone etiquette.
  • Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Academic and Test Center Calendar (start and end dates, registration deadlines, etc.).

  • ABILITY TO:
  • Understand and resolve issues, complaints or problems.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Follow the schedule and meet deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines.

  • Hearing and speaking in a noisy environment with multiple forms of input.
