Research Scientist in Psychology

The Allen Laboratory at the University of Virginia has an immediate opening for a developmental psychologist with expertise in longitudinal research on social development from adolescence into adulthood in a Research Scientist role.

We are located in beautiful Charlottesville, VA, near the Blue Ridge mountains, with a strong cultural and restaurant scene and college town energy. QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of PhD in Developmental Psychology or closely related discipline with an emphasis on assessment of social interactions from an attachment theory perspective and a minimum of 3 years of hands-on postdoctoral training experience in a social development laboratory. A record of high-quality research as demonstrated by publications in top tier journals and external presentations is required. A history of obtaining significant grant support at both the local and national levels is also strongly desired. Evidence of a growing national reputation, seen in participation in journal editorial boards, as well as the ability to translate academic work into material accessible for a broader audience, is desired. Experience successfully mentoring students in producing high-quality academic reports is desired. Additional required technical skills: advanced statistical analytic capacities applicable to longitudinal data and experience and ability to develop, utilize and supervise application of complex coding systems to capture social interaction behavior.
