Job Description

The Division of Student Experience seeks an assistant director of communications to oversee communication efforts for the division’s units and initiatives, with a strong emphasis on student engagement, diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. The position will serve as an extension of the teams they work with, acting as a communications go-to resource who executes and manages a large volume of projects centered on student-focused communications plans and campaigns.

The position will drive tactics that span digital, social, print, email and web channels, working to increase visibility and awareness of ESE’s distinct services, programs and events with key audiences, especially current students. Under the direction of the ESE director of communications, this position will also support the coordination and alignment of the division’s efforts with the Division of Marketing and Communications overarching brand direction.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, new media management or related field; dual degree or minor in cross-cultural communication, international relations, or humanities a plus three-to-five years experience developing and executing communication strategies and plans for a variety of platforms.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and PowerPoint; Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written, oral and visual).
  • Commitment to and demonstration of promoting an inclusive environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, make decisions and balance multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues across levels at the institution, including students.
Responsibilities
  • Initiate, execute and direct communication strategies for units and initiatives centered on diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, community and engagement, working in close collaboration with divisional departments.
  • Develop communications materials for use across web, social, email, video and digital channels, managing project workflow and ensuring they are completed on time.
  • Develop, curate and edit newsletters to target student populations in collaboration with partnering office.
  • Serve as communications lead for creating, editing and translating content for social media channels, websites, digital kiosks and screens, and print materials.
  • Deliver on division’s editorial calendar by driving content ideas and communications activities that highlight the student experience.
  • Manage relationships with vendor(s) to support translation of content across a variety of communication channels to reach a global community.
