The Purdue University John Martinson Honors College (JMHC), West Lafayette, Indiana, invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor position. We seek candidates in history with experience in undergraduate honors education to teach classes in our interdisciplinary honors curriculum and contribute to programming for highly motivated students. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in migration and diaspora studies. Required duties include: teaching in the first-year honors course series on topics related to the candidate’s field of specialty; offering specialty honors seminars; and participating in programming to support a vibrant residential college. Students in all classes will be from a variety of majors. The workload is 3-3 teaching. This is a full-time appointment at the level of Clinical Assistant Professor. Initial contract is for three years with possibility for renewal, and the position begins August 2023.

Qualifications

Ph.D. required in history. Applicants must demonstrate experience in place-based honors pedagogy and ideas for implementing innovative teaching techniques and working with a diverse student population representing all of Purdue’s academic colleges. The nine-month salary will be based on education and experience. Purdue University offers a comprehensive benefits package.

The JMHC is Purdue’s interdisciplinary college that serves highly motivated undergraduate students from every disciplinary school in the university. It is an academic-residential environment, grounded in four pillars: interdisciplinary academics, undergraduate research, global and community engagement, and leadership development. The college has over 3,000 undergraduate students, who, in addition to their major, complete a curriculum that helps them achieve these aims.
