Job Details

Emporia State University’s Department of Counselor Education in Emporia Kansas is seeking applications for a 9-month, tenure track, campus-based assistant or associate professor position in our CACREP-accredited School Counseling and/or Clinical Counseling programs. An option for a campus-based multi-year renewable contract, emphasizing teaching over scholarship, is available. The position will begin August 2023 and is based in Emporia, KS.

Responsibilities

The position emphasizes teaching and development of effective counseling practitioners at the graduate level. Our programs are 60-credit degree programs that meet their respective school and clinical licensure requirements for the state of Kansas. Responsibilities include teaching asynchronous and synchronous online courses, mentoring students, providing supervision to interns, performing scholarly (for the tenure-track position) and service activities, and executing CACREP/KSDE/CAEP accreditation endeavors. Opportunities for summer teaching exist.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

  • Professional experience in school or clinical settings
  • KSDE or BSRB equivalent licensure
  • Eligible to obtain entry level Kansas counselor licensure- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)- through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board
  • Online teaching experience or willingness to learn

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Doctorate (or doctoral candidate) degree in school or clinical counseling from a CACREP accredited program; or combination of pre-2023 teaching experience and doctorate in a closely related field
  • Professional experience as a school or clinical counselor
  • Record of university teaching excellence
  • Record of professional presentations and/or academic publications
  • Service to the profession
  • Licensure and/or willingness to obtain the entry level addiction counselor licensure- Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC)- through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board

Compensation

Salary is competitive and dependent on qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is included.
