Description
The LBJ School of Public Affairs seeks to develop a pool of candidates for a non-tenure, professional track faculty position to teach graduate courses on policy communications. We expect the instructor to teach five sections of policy communications courses (three courses in Spring - starting Spring 2023 and two courses in Fall). This is a full-time (100%) position. We also expect the instructor to participate in planned and ad hoc advising of our MA and PhD students related to professional writing training and support.
The policy communications courses aim to train students to inform, convince, and negotiate in the public policy arena. This includes practice in clear and concise writing, presentation, and negotiation in formats including reports, memoranda, op-ed articles or testimonies, briefings, interviews, speeches and social media/press “sound bites”. Students will also practice the art of writing with evidence, audience awareness, receiving information (listening), inclusive deliberation, and the ethics of communication.

A Master's degree in public affairs or a field related to public affairs is required. Professional experience in public policy communications is preferred. A record of teaching excellence is preferred but not required.
