About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced, hard-working, collaborative, certified teacher to lead the annual Math Masters summer program this year. The Math Master summer program is designed to utilize evidence-based practice in math instruction and Applied Behavior Analysis to boost learners' math skills during the month of July.

Program Logistics: The program is offered to students in the afternoons of the following days:
  • July 6-8 (Wednesday - Friday)
  • July 11-14 (Monday- Thursday)
  • July 18-21 (Monday- Thursday)
  • July 25-29 (Monday- Friday


The core program begins at 1:00pm and ends at 5:30pm, with the Lead Teacher's hours ranging between 12:00pm to 5:30pm depending on student transportation and preparation time. The Lead Teacher will also be involved with planning, assessment, and training prior to the start of the program.

Role & Responsibilities: The Lead Teacher will be responsible for overseeing day to day procedures and collaborating with the Northeastern faculty members. They will maintain attendance records, lead daily processes, and communicate with parents. The Lead Teacher will lead whole group instruction and activities and will supervise the graduate-student Instructors during instruction and activities. They will also aggregate graphed data and communicate with Northeastern faculty on any program changes.

Training: Depending on experience, the Lead Teacher will complete and/or assist with training on evidence-based instructional methods, conducting Direct Instruction and fluency-based instruction, Responsive Classroom procedures, data collection and analysis, general behavior management strategies, and working with minors. These trainings will be scheduled throughout June, with some being required for Instructors to complete on their own.

Evidence-Based Practice and ABA: All elements of the Math Masters program are grounded on evidence-based procedures for learning, skill maintenance, and generalization. Methods derived from applied behavior analysis (ABA) will be incorporated into all areas of the program. Northeastern faculty members are also Board Certified Behavior Analysts and will provide behavior analytic supervised fieldwork hours for all hours accrued as part of the Math Masters program if desired.

Qualifications:
  • Current Massachusetts Teach Certification
  • 3-5 years of elementary teaching experience
  • ABA experience preferred
