Position Summary:
The Department of Criminal Justice in the Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Monmouth University seeks applicants for a full-time tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin on September 1, 2023.The department is comprised of academic scholars and practitioners who consistently collaborate and publish in their respective areas of expertise. It provides the following relevant programs: Criminal Justice and Homeland Security majors and minors at the undergraduate level and innovative graduate programs, including a Master of Criminal Justice (MA) with available tracks in “Homeland Security”, “Intelligence”, “Leadership” and “Police Community Relations”. Faculty focus on key areas of skill development that include critical thinking, oral and written expression, team membership, leadership, ethical decision making and employability readiness.Responsibilities include teaching nine credits per semester and enthusiastically advising the department's majors. The successful candidate will also demonstrate active interest in mentoring and inspiring students who are traditionally underrepresented in the fields of Criminal Justice and Homeland Security.

The search will remain open until the position is filled, but applications received by March 22, 2023 will receive fullest consideration. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2023.

Other Requirements:
Terminal degree (PhD or DSc) in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Homeland Security or related field. ABD candidates may be considered with degree completion expected by date of employment. An EdD will be considered if the applicant has at least eight years of practitioner experience in criminal justice, homeland security or related field. A JD alone does not serve as a qualification for this position.Evidence of scholarly activities in the area of Criminal Justice or Homeland Security (e.g. publications and/or conference proceedings).Prior experience and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching Criminal Justice or Homeland Security at the undergraduate or graduate level.Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations.

Preferred Qualifications:
College-level advising experience.Expertise in research methods and statistics, and the ability to teach courses in those areas.
