Position Summary: Student One-Stop Specialist (SOSS) staff the Washburn University Welcome Center and are expected to exude professionalism and discretion through personal interactions. In addition, the Specialist serves as a representative of the University to visitors, potential students, parents and other members of the public who seek information about and assistance from Washburn University. The Student One-Stop Specialist serves with a high level of conscientious quality customer service.

Essential Functions:
• Provide assistance and information to current students, parents and University faculty and staff.

• Respond to questions relative to any faction of the University, the primary focus and field of expertise will relate to Admissions, Financial Aid, University Registrar and closely related departments that are involved with student payments and records.

• Explain procedures, policies and requirements, and respond to questions from prospective and current students who are in the initial stages of application for admission and enrollment to help them understand processes and requirements for attendance at Washburn University.

• Using University computer systems, policy manuals and other available resources formulate the appropriate response and/or action to address issues that relate to admission status, student records, Title IV eligibility, financial aid disbursement, cost of attendance, tuition billing and payment processes and other concerns that are presented.

• Refer especially complex and critical issues specific to Enrollment and Student Business Services or its partner departments as appropriate to facilitate appropriate and timely resolution at a specialized level.

• SOSSs will cross-train in tangent job functions of all units of Enrollment Management and Student Business Services and will be expected to exude professionalism and discretion through personal interactions.

• Work with departments across campus as appropriate, develop and distribute communication to students to explain changes in policies and procedures as they occur, and provide guidance to help students access services or comply with University requirements.

• Recommend changes and modifications in University policies and procedures to administrators to provide improved services to students.

• Participate in meetings, seminars and other events to keep apprised of changes in policies, regulations and procedures related to enrollment and attendance at Washburn University.

• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Two years of experience providing administrative support.
• One year of data entry experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively and make complex decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Proven ability to interact tactfully with customers to resolve issues. Well-defined interpersonal and customer service skills in an office setting.
• Capable of multitasking and performing varied and detailed functions effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes. Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:
• A college degree and one year of work experience in a University Registrar’s, Admissions, Financial Aid office, or student records system
• Understanding of college programs and degrees. Experience using a student information system such as Banner, PeopleSoft or Jenzabar.
• Ability to speak and understand Spanish.

Full time, Hourly, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm
