The College of Nursing at Xavier University is seeking an experienced and highly motivated candidate for a full-time, open-rank faculty to serve as the Director and provide academic leadership for our high-quality, hybrid ABSN program. The Director position is a 12-month appointment with faculty status and is responsible for program leadership, oversight, and management of the ABSN program in all current sites in Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland in collaboration with the sites’ Assistant Directors.

The successful candidate will work directly with the Assistant Directors of the Cleveland and Columbus sites and report to the Associate Dean for the undergraduate programs on the main campus. The Director will be located primarily in the Cincinnati-ABSN site and is expected to have an on-campus physical presence as part of their role and visit the other two campuses at least once a semester and as needed.

The successful candidate will have responsibilities that include: program oversight and managing day-to-day operations, supervising faculty and staff in the ABSN program, program assessment, representing the program at university functions, and management of the curriculum revision or development among other duties to be determined. The Director oversees matters relating to admissions, didactic and practicum (simulation, lab, and clinical) curriculum delivery, program continuity and delivery, and benchmarking and evaluation. The Director will ensure program compliance with all laws and regulations of the Board of Nursing, CCNE, and HLC. The Director will assure the effective deployment of resources to accomplish the goals and objectives of the program. The Director will provide collaborative leadership for matters related to accreditation/ certification, teaching schedules, and recruitment of new faculty and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current and unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Ohio or be eligible to be licensed in Ohio.
  • A doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or DNP) with a focus in nursing education or higher education leadership from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of five years in nursing practice as a registered nurse, two of which have been as a full-time faculty member in a registered nursing education program.
  • Evidence of leadership experience in an accredited nursing program, at a baccalaureate level or higher preferred.
  • Knowledge of hybrid and online pedagogy, and adult teaching and current advances in technology to enhance the educational experience of students.
  • Knowledge of current research and scholarship, that is supportive of the professional development of nursing faculty.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, methods of teaching, and evaluation.
  • Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills and have a strong commitment to working as part of a collaborative team.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate experience in nursing accreditation processes (i.e., CCNE or ACEN).
  • Demonstrate experience in the integration of curriculum revision/development, program planning, program evaluation, and student learning outcomes assessment.
  • Experience in coordinating and implementing programs in an educational setting
  • Experience with hybrid and online pedagogy, and adult teaching is desired.
  • Experience using simulation is a plus.
  • Experience in project and budget management and reporting.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a collegial setting with faculty and staff at all levels.
