POSITION SUMMARY:

The Admissions Recruiter provides assistance in the recruitment of prospective law school students and is responsible for assisting in the coordination of College of Law recruitment. The Admissions Recruiter performs varied general office support services, and the dissemination of information about the College of Law. Extensive travel is required between the months of September and November.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with the Assistant Dean of Enrollment & Scholarships, Associate Director of Admissions, and Assistant Director of Admissions to develop and implement a recruiting and admissions program designed to connect with prospective students, communicate admissions decisions to students in a timely manner, and maintain all admissions files in an appropriate manner.

Work with the Assistant Dean of Enrollment & Scholarships, Associate Director of Admissions, and Assistant Director of Admissions to maintain and use ACES2 to identify and recruit prospect students, to track and communicate with students during the application process, and to assist applicants in the admissions process.

Represent the College of Law at on-campus and off-campus activities and disseminate appropriate information about the College of Law to prospective students and other interested parties.

Maintain ongoing contact and good public relations with current students and staff.

Keep abreast of all admissions, financial aid, and student affairs policies and guidelines.

Work with the Assistant Dean of Enrollment & Scholarships, Associate Director of Admissions, and Assistant Director of Admissions to accomplish the tasks and goals of the Admissions Office.

Maintain confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students, supervisors or other employees.

Receive, route and screen incoming calls in an efficient and courteous manner; take accurate messages as necessary; and retrieve departmental voicemail messages and forward to appropriate personnel.

Provide general Admissions and Financial Aid information via telephone or in-person.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Recruiting Responsibilities:

Implement and aid in facilitating the strategic planning initiatives regarding on/off campus programs and events.

Extensive travel required between the months of September and November.

Aid in developing and managing a robust recruiting calendar.

Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of first year Orientation Events.

Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of informational sessions, open houses, and admitted Students events (retention events).

Assist with the development of enrollment marketing publications and communications including letters, brochures, website postings, electronic mail and other mediums.

Data Entry/Application Processing Responsibilities:

Process changes in admissions and student records, as required and appropriate.

Enter, update, and scan applicant information in the ACES2 module as necessary.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS:

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population. Be tactful when dealing with difficult people on the phone or in person.

Must be a self-starter who an work under pressure, and meet established deadlines. Ability to think "outside the box" and to lead and manage change, as well as the recruiting and admissions processes of the College of Law.

Professional in appearance and demeanor.

Superior attention to detail and confidentiality

Ability to facilitate and maintain positive working relationships with pre-law advisors from various undergraduate universities around the country.

Proficiency in the use of CRMs, Microsoft Office, including Excel, and complex database systems.

Ability to concentrate on work projects despite interruptions by heavy volume of telephone calls, students passing by, and visitors.

Adept at record-keeping and general office procedures.

The position requires average agility and good physical condition. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy materials weighing up to approximately 25 to 30 pounds.

Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.

Ability to work under stress.

Ability to travel to recruit and/or participate in meetings, conferences, and other related activities in/out of United States.

Oversee and assign tasks to work study students in absence of Associate Director and/or Assistant Director.

Serve on University committees as requested,

Comply with departmental and university safety rules and regulations.

Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisors.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Supervision received from Assistant Dean of Enrollment & Scholarships. Routine assignments are performed independently following University and departmental policies and procedures.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

No supervisory responsibility, but may train and work directly with study students.

POSITION UALIFIC IONS/SPECIFICATIONS:

BA degree required. Preference will be given to individuals with prior knowledge/experience in law school admissions. Minimum of one-year previous general office experience demonstrating a thorough knowledge and proven proficiency with office practices and procedures. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of integrated software systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel. Knowledge and strong skills in integrated software systems, particularly Datatel, and reporting tools.

Tuition Benefit

After 1 year of continuous full‐time service, employees are eligible to enroll in STU’s bachelor and master courses, tuition‐free. The program will cover a maximum timeframe of 125% of credit hours attempted toward the degree program. Employees may enroll in STU’s doctoral program, with a 40% tuition discount, under the same conditions.
