Description: The Department of Medical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) invites applications for a full-time Tenure Track, Clinical Track, or Teaching Track position at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Large Animal Internal Medicine Section of the Morrie Waud Large Animal Hospital. The successful candidate will join four other ACVIM boarded large animal internists providing clinical service within the Large Animal Hospital on the UW-Madison campus.

The Morrie Waud Large Animal Teaching Hospital is a collegial, collaborative environment that offers specialty care with board certified experts in allied services including Large Animal Surgery, Anesthesia and Pain Management, Cardiology, and Diagnostic Imaging. The current case-load is comprised of approximately 70 % horses, 30 % food animal (principally dairy cattle) and a small number of camelids and other farm animal species. Approximately 650 large animal medicine patients are evaluated annually with a growing caseload in all species over the last several years. A predominance of cases are in-patients, with a significant number of critical care patients.

Qualifications: Board certified or board eligible with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Large Animal) or European College of Equine Internal Medicine. Aptitude and/or experience in clinical instruction of DVM students, interns, and residents.

Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree required.

Responsibilities:  For tenure track faculty members, the approximate distribution of effort is expected to be 50% research, 25% clinical service/teaching, 15 % non-clinical teaching and 10% academic service. For clinical track faculty, the distribution of time in clinical service, non-clinical teaching, research, and other service is expected to be approximately 40%, 25%, 25%, 10%, respectively. For Teaching track faculty, the distribution of time in clinical service, non-clinical teaching, research, and other service is expected to be approximately 50%, 25%, 15%, 10%, respectively. Regardless of track, the position is offered at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank, depending on qualifications. The approximate apportionment of time between teaching, outreach, research, and service will be dependent on the track chosen, but all positions will contribute approximately 10% of time to committees and other service in the SVM.
