DATASONDE TECHNICIAN
Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for a Datasonde Technician. Position is a full-time annual appointment based in the Burroughs and Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies’ Environmental Quality Laboratory. This facility conducts research and monitoring in the coastal and inland waters of northeastern South Carolina. To read more about the Environmental Quality Lab, see: https://www.coastal.edu/eql/.
Duties include, but are not limited to: services water quality monitoring instruments and weather stations deployed at Apache and Cherry Grove Pier. This includes field work and lab work, QC activities that identify data that are out of control, repair of equipment and the deployment infrastructure; monitors continuous data on daily basis to evaluate equipment function; calibrates and operates EQL datasondes; prepare results reports that include project QC results using standard templates developed by the EQL; upload data into CCU and EPA databases; serve as a Project Leader and conduct field work on at least one EQL project; train and mentor student workers and researchers; perform regulatory laboratory analyses for at least three parameters; and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements: A bachelor's degree in science (e.g. chemistry, biology, marine science, geology, environmental science) is required. Specialized experience with datasondes and water quality meters in active use by the EQL and experience with regulatory work as lab technician are required. Must maintain a valid SC driver’s license. Experience with calibrating and maintaining in-situ sensors is preferred.

Laboratory Technologist I (ED35/RG0009/NS01031P), full-time position with benefits. Comparable pay band: SC State Pay Band: 04. Salary range is $35,000.00 to $45,000.00. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the projects.
