About the Opportunity

The Department of Chemical Engineering at Northeastern University is seeking a motivated and energetic person as the Marketing, Communications and Events Coordinator. This position is hybrid and reports to the Senior Business Manager.

This role will direct, develop, and disseminate all marketing and communications efforts for the Department of Chemical Engineering. This includes developing and implementing, in coordination with the Department Chair, a marketing strategy that has at its core student recruitment, department rankings, and alumni & corporate relationships, among other top priorities. The individual will not only develop a marketing plan but will quantify, through marketing analytics, the impact of any initiative.

This role is expected to work closely with the College of Engineering (COE) marketing team, and Northeastern University's marketing and communications department on joint initiatives.

This role will work closely with the Department Chair and Business Manager in determining the strategic direction of any marketing and communications efforts. The individual will work closely with the Business Manager and Academic Coordinator on a marketing budget and course promotion. In addition, this role will work with student ambassadors and student recruiters at regional events to help increase the profile of the Chemical Engineering Department, its programs, and its faculty.

This role is expected to have their finger on the pulse and a deep understanding of department activity. This will involve working closely with Department faculty to promote their research and successes; student leaders and their groups to promote their accomplishments; and external strategic partners on important events and partnerships.

This role will manage work-study students who will support event logistics, graphic design, photography, or other departmental marketing and events materials. Together, they will coordinate and market department events, both internal and external.

Qualifications

Associate Degree and/or at least 2 years of administrative experience required; Bachelor's degree preferred 2 years of experience required in marketing products or services Experience producing marketing materials, including web, digital and social media, and print design Must possess advanced writing and editing skills Must be a self-starter who enjoys providing administrative support to dynamic and complex groups of faculty, students, staff, alumni, and other stakeholders Must be able to consistently produce high-quality work under tight deadlines Excellent interpersonal skills, leading to effective communication and problem-solving Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
