About the Opportunity

The Northeastern University Marketing department is looking for a passionate, strategic and experienced Marketing Manager to join our growing dynamic team. The Senior Marketing Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of work within the University marketing team from inception to delivery. The ideal candidate is someone who is entrepreneurial and independent, eager to proactively drive strategy decisions with experience managing integrated programs inclusive of digital and print executions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • In coordination with the Director for Marketing, establish and execute marketing goals and plans across a determined portfolio of work that deliver on identified business objectives
  • Manage the full lifecycle of marketing programs - inclusive of project planning, discovery, strategy, execution, measurement and optimization
  • Establish clear and measurable benchmarks/KPIs of omnichannel marketing efforts as well as necessary reporting capabilities to properly evaluate and communicate marketing performance - both at the tactical and strategic level
  • Manage the relationship with respective stakeholders across the University (college and department marketing teams) to ensure project success
  • Support the overall quality of project deliverables by ensuring materials align with marketing goals and institutional level priorities and follow standard quality control processes.
  • Analyze market trends and optimization recommendations to marketing strategies
  • Prepare and present quarterly and annual portfolio reports to senior management


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a marketing manager, marketing strategy or marketing client/account management role
  • Experience originating, developing and managing complex marketing programs from scratch
  • Strong leadership, communication, relationship development and collaboration abilities
  • Exceptional organizational skills including attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and time management
  • Strong problem-solving ability, including metrics-driven thinking
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and have no problem building new strategies and processes to adapt in a rapidly changing environment
  • Self-starter with a “can do” attitude and intense desire to excel
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • An unwavering spirit of optimism, collegiality, curiosity and humility

Familiarity/Experience with the following a plus:
  • Experience working on enterprise brand marketing
  • Experience in a high-volume and fast paced environment
  • Background working through strategic, creative and technical projects
  • Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with cross functional team (e.g. writers, designers, developers) and senior management
  • Experience in higher education is not required, nor is it desired

The position is based on the Boston campus with the option of one remote day per week.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day oversight of a set portfolio of work (40% of time)
  • Oversight of a portfolio of work, ensuring all projects are on track and laddering up to established goals
  • Serve as the lead for all projects within a set portfolio
  • End-to-end oversight of projects within a set portfolio
  • Attend and lead regular meetings to prioritize work with the marketing team as necessary
  • Support the overall quality of project deliverables by ensuring materials align with the northeastern brand, marketing goals and institutional level priorities and follow standard quality control processes before sharing with stakeholders
  • Serve as a key stakeholder and thought partner in the creative process
  • Ensure portfolio success and health, providing ongoing reports


Marketing strategy (60% of time)
  • In coordination with the Director for Marketing, establish marketing goals and plans across a determined portfolio of work that deliver on identified business objectives
  • Ability to translate a vision into an actionable plan
  • Build marketing programs to support specific objectives across different channels and audience segments in support of the strategic goals
  • Drive the translation of strategy through creative concepting and execution
  • Plan and conduct project discovery (inclusive of market and audience research, team workshops, survey development)
  • Develop project briefs and supporting documentation
  • Lead kickoff meetings for projects and portfolio reviews
  • Develop testing plans as appropriate by project
  • Measure and evaluate results of initiatives and campaigns, and a readout of those results in a timely manner
  • Develop and execute optimization plans for projects to drive results
  • Proactive portfolio planning throughout the year
