The Department of Counselor Education at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites applications for a Program Coordinator to join our community starting in May 2023 . The position of Program Coordinator includes projects that are critical to the Department of Counselor Education which require administrative coordination and oversight. Importantly, the position functions as the Clinical Coordinator for practicum and internships and the CACREP Assessment Coordinator for all counselor education programs. These are year-round responsibilities, as courses are offered fall, winter, spring, and summer, and students are in the clinical field 12 months a year.

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will provide professional administrative support to the Chairperson and the faculty of the Department of Counselor Education and assist in the department's day-to-day operations. As the Clinical Coordinator, the candidate will coordinate all clinical experiences in the School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs, respond to all inquiries from students, faculty, administrators, and external professionals regarding the clinical program and distribute required STEP office forms for payment. They will also oversee ongoing, systematic accreditation (CACREP) assessments, curricular evaluation, and program improvement efforts within the department to be included in the department’s annual report.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have:

  1. A Masters-degree in counseling or related field from an accredited higher education institution
  2. Demonstrated experience in project management or coordination.
  3. Strong organization and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability and flexibility to learn new skills as different duties may arise.
  4. Proficiency in the use of standard office software ( including Microsoft Office, web-based tools, Google Suite ) and technology (such as multi-function printers, fax machines, and phone systems) and the ability to learn and administer technology related to clinical coordination (such as Supervision Assist)
  5. Ability to work independently and as a team member. At times the work is fast-paced and requires tight deadlines. The position requires an individual who can handle this type of high-intensity work environment and work in a collegial and calm manner, while maintaining a positive attitude.
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion, and grace in handling and managing sensitive student and faculty issues.


Preferred qualifications:

  1. Experience working in higher education.
  2. Exceptional organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize, multi-task and adhere to institutional and department deadlines.
  3. Experience using Oracle, PeopleSoft, CANVAS, PAWS, Qualtrics and WordPress software systems.
