Job Description

The Executive Director will report to the Associate Dean. This position is responsible for the overall recruitment, selection, and enrollment of MBA and MS students across all full-time WSOM Master’s programs. The Executive Director will be an innovative and thoughtful leader who will bring a creative and data-informed perspective to form a cohesive, integrated and collaborative admissions and recruitment function.

Responsible for the entire portfolio of full-time on-campus MBA and MS programs, the Executive Director will play a critical role in the school’s future by collaborating with staff and faculty to attract a diverse, talented and engaged student population locally, nationally, and internationally.

Qualifications
  • An MBA or other Master’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible administrative experience in business, higher education or at a not-for profit.
  • Experience in higher education in admissions or student services. Excellent communication, presentation and technology skills are required.
  • The ability to work with a diverse team effectively and handle multiple projects with strict adherence to deadlines.
  • Must be willing and able to travel within the US and internationally.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Breadth and depth of experience in enrollment management, strong business judgment and decision-making skills, a strong capability of working with data and analytics, the ability to work and interact in a transparent manner, and the ability to lead and manage are essential to success in this position.
  • The successful candidate will have previous senior-level admissions experience in a top-ranked business school or related program or relevant corporate experience in marketing, operations, or a related field; experience integrating across programs and building organizational structure to deliver an outstanding, student-centric experience; an appreciation for various program delivery formats, including high-quality hybrid offerings; experience managing the relationship with external admissions and student recruitment partners; and proficiency with admissions technology platforms.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of a strategic recruiting plan for the enrollment of high quality & diverse students across a portfolio of Master’s programs.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean to identify/maintain recruiting collaborations and synergies, and defining a competitive and unique market position for all full-time Master’s programs. Current collaborations include National Black MBA Association, Management Leadership for Tomorrow, and articulation agreements with regional colleges.
  • Identify current and future market trends for student needs, recruiter requests, and changes in job market requirements that allow the Master’s programs to remain at the cutting edge of graduate business education.
  • Plan & implement recruiting and outreach programming that attracts a quality Master’s applicant pool, increases program visibility, increases student yield, decreases student melt, meets enrollment targets and ensures a diverse student body.
  • Employ a data-driven approach to analyze the graduate management education market & recommend appropriate courses of action to the Associate Dean and sr. leadership of the Whitman School.
  • Lead collaboration with Whitman’s Marketing & Communications Office to develop appropriate web and social media content, print material, and correspondence for recruitment purposes.
  • Serve as director of Master’s admissions, coordinating with program managers and faculty, and other master’s program staff.
  • Work directly with the Associate Dean to develop eligibility standards, admissions criteria and Financial Aid/Scholarship parameters in line with strategic and financial goals.
  • Oversee evaluation of applicants based on academic background, test scores, professional experience, career goals and other attributes; plan candidate interview process to assess focus and communication skills in line with Whitman School and Master’s Office values and principles; coordinate recommendations of admissions actions.
  • Manage student enrollment, enrollment targets, and summarizing reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Manage the CRM process, including filter and query development, database management, strategic dashboards for KPI identification, and identifying technologies to increase process efficiency.
  • Lead collaboration with others at Whitman School and Syracuse University to ensure overall enrollment system performance.
  • Lead and motivate a staff of professionals to work together to achieve program goals. Ensure alignment of key staff across the Master’s programs to ensure the delivery of a service oriented admissions, enrollment, and registration process.
  • Manage staff development, performance reviews, job descriptions, and employee administration for all direct reports.
  • Be the focal point for data collection and verification of Master’s ranking surveys and accreditation assessment data.
  • Facilitate appropriate budget reporting process for the Master’s programsLead as an active participant in national program-related organizations such as the MBA Roundtable and GMAC .
  • Ensure admissions goals are met, maintaining high quality academic standards.
  • Identify opportunities for program improvement, process efficiency, and regular feedback.
  • Provide leadership in the development of systems that gather student, alumni, and employer feedback.
  • Collaborate with Whitman senior leadership to support and implement curriculum, programmatic, or process efforts and changes.
