Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job
The Department of Psychology and Philosophy in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a Full-Time Lecturer to begin in the Fall 2023 semester. The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for teaching various experimental courses at the undergraduate level. These courses include but are not limited to research methods, statistics, cognition, learning, physiological, or social psychology.

Educational Requirements for the Position
Candidates must at least have a Master’s degree in Psychology, although a preference will be given for candidates with a Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited University prior to the start date. Candidates must have at least a Master’s degree conferred by the start date of the position.
Experience Required for the Position
Candidates are expected to have previous experience and education in statistics and research methods. An additional area of specialty for teaching at the undergraduate level is welcome, but there is potential need for individuals with training/experience in physiological or social psychology. Instructors with training and/or experience in online instruction are encouraged to apply, although the primary teaching responsibilities are expected to be for face-to-face instruction.

Academic
· Teach 6-8 undergraduate courses per academic year (with a possibility of teaching additional courses during the summer, if desired, and the potential for teaching graduate courses if candidate meets the qualifications to do so.)
· Present a working knowledge of relevant curricula
· Mentor undergraduate students, as appropriate
Other
· Help to establish an online presence, as necessary
· Participate in service and collaborate in research across department, college, and university levels.
Other skills that are expected from a qualified candidate include, but are not limited to: ability to be a team member, commitment to student success, and excellent verbal/written/organizational skills.

Sam Houston State University is located in Huntsville, TX in the beautiful piney woods of East Texas approximately one-hour North of the ethnically and culturally diverse Houston metropolitan area. SHSU is classified as a “Doctoral Professional University” by the Carnegie Commission of Higher Education.
