Mission or Goal of Unit: The Mission of the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science is to educate professional Pharm.D. and graduate students and to conduct research on medication use that will result in the advancement of the profession and improvements in the quality of health care. The Department provides Pharm.D. and graduate students with courses and research experiences that prepare them for their professional careers. The Department is committed to enhance diversity among its faculty, staff, and students. Finally, Department faculty have a responsibility to provide service to their profession and to the university community.

Chief Purpose of this position: The School of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacotherapy and Outcome Science invites you to apply to our Health, Economics, Outcomes Research (HEOR) faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position is a tenure-eligible faculty position in Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) and will support the professional Pharm.D. and graduate programs at the School of Pharmacy. This position will also contribute substantially to the research mission of the School of Pharmacy

Position Responsibilities:
  • Teaching : Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in the areas related to Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) and related disciplines. The faculty member will teach in the Pharm.D. and graduate programs, as well as mentor graduate students.
  • Research : Faculty member will contribute to the research mission of the School of Pharmacy by obtaining extramural funding, publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts, and conducting collaborative research.
  • Service : Faculty member will serve on departmental, School, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g., reviewer, conference organizer, etc.
Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or Pharm.D. (with equivalent academic training) in pharmacoeconomics, health services research, health disparities/pharmacoequity, or health policy
  • Record of publication and conference dissemination demonstrating expertise in the faculty area of research
  • Candidates must have significant postdoctoral or previous academic research experience with excellence in scholarship and strong potential for extramural funding

  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching experience at the Pharm.D. and graduate level
