The Center for Ethics (CFE) at Emory University has a position open for Director of our Ethics & the Arts Program. The Ethics & the Arts program (E&A) is a catalyzing social and intellectual force at Emory and in the greater Atlanta region, featuring signature programs such as the Arts & Social Justice Fellows Program, Ethics on the Stage—a collaboration with leading Atlanta theaters—and the curation of the CFE Art Gallery, among others. There is significant opportunity for creative programming and collaborations across the region’s thriving arts community and the many arts offerings at Emory University. E&A is dedicated to using art as a vehicle to discuss social and ethical issues, especially around social justice; to exploring the ethical implications of the creation, display, and commercialization of artistic products; to partnering with regional arts organizations and artists; and to organizing programs and events for students and the regional community. In addition, the position includes teaching through the Emory College Department of Film and Media, the position to be determined by the academic status of the candidate. To be clear, we are looking for candidates in academia but also in non-academic fields (in the sense of not having an appointment anywhere, being a working artist or arts educator). Preference will be given to those involved in the visual arts and/or film.
