Williams College is looking for a Senior Associate Dean for Administration, Finance and Strategy to act as the Dean of the College’s chief operating officer and a senior strategic partner. The Dean’s Office provides holistic support as Williams students navigate their experiences at the College. The Senior Associate Dean will serve in a leadership role to develop and implement the programmatic mission of the Dean of the College division. This role requires fiscal acumen, managerial experience, appreciation for collaborative work, and comfort in an ever-changing environment that supports our students.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Dean on divisional planning and strategy
  • Operationalize College and Dean of the College goals and special projects and create systems to track progress to achieve desired outcomes
  • Oversee fiscal management of the division, including budget development along with day-to-day oversight ensuring that resources are aligned with the College’s strategic plan and divisional goals
  • Manage external partnerships including contract negotiations and logistics for service providers, including oversight of our Health Center leadership team
  • Partner with the Office of Information Technology to manage divisional use of technology, particularly the oversight of change management process during the campus-wide new software implementation.
  • Seek and maintain collaborative partnerships between the Dean of the College team and other administrative and academic offices
  • Serve as the lead departmental representative on committees, task forces, and search committees
  • Serve as a central point of contact for all human resource matters for the division, working closely with HR to support managers in addressing staff issues, development, and planning
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree plus at least 5 years senior administrative experience or equivalent required; relevant advanced degree preferred
  • Progressively responsible experience in a higher education institution preferred, with particular attention to areas within the Dean of the College's portfolio
  • Demonstrated financial expertise
  • Interest in both collaborative and individual work with the tenets of shared inquiry, personal accountability, and collective accomplishment
  • Proven ability to pivot and interest in multi-tasking
  • Appreciate the benefits of working with our multi-vocal community of students, staff and faculty
  • Interest in developing and maintaining cross-functional partnerships and to work collaboratively with a wide array of constituencies, with an appreciation of the dynamics of a small rural residential college campus
  • Ability to nurture an atmosphere of collegiality and inclusiveness
  • Highly developed formal and informal communication skills
This role will be eligible for up to one day a week remote work subject to policy.

Application review will begin on February 28, 2023, and will continue until the position is filled. Pay range is from $105,000 to $120,000, commensurate with experience. Job band 1-C.
