Job Description Summary
The Penn Wharton Budget Model (PWBM) is looking for a Senior Application Developer join our team. We are a nonpartisan, research-based initiative that provides accurate, accessible and transparent economic analysis of public policy's fiscal impact. We are looking for bright, highly motivated developers to join us and contribute to this important work.
Our new Senior Application Developer will report to the Director of Data Software. They will be a key member of a small, highly integrated team. The role is primarily development but also includes high-level architecture planning and design. The role will also work closely with our world class team of economists to clarify and articulate requirements and enhancements. In addition to back-end work (Python), the Senior Application Developer will also be involved in front-end (React) and website (html, css, js) development.

Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Implement and Refactor C# PWBM models with Python.
- Support websites and web applications using HTML, CSS and Javascript
- Support DataView platform as prioritized by Product team and Project manager.
- Coding in Typescript, Python, React, Redux, and SQL
- Research new technology stacks for UI enhancements and model rewrites. Make recommendations about optimal architecture for required functionality. Act as key participant in technical design
- Work closely with economists to understand model design and suggest potential optimizations
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of work experience is required.
- 3 years of work experience with Typescript, React, Redux, Python, and AWS is required.
- Familiarity with statistics; some experience in economics, finance or personal finance; and an interest in public policy are desirable.
- Attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and an ability to work with minimal supervision will serve you well on this dynamic team.
Staff positions at the Penn Wharton Budget Model are funded by external gifts and grants. This position is subject to future continuation of funding sources tied to your position. The position could be terminated if funding sources are discontinued and suitable replacement funding sources, as determined by the faculty director, are not available. This position is subject to renewal every two years at the discretion of the faculty director.
