Job Description Summary
Clinical Research Coordinator A: The primary role of Clinical Research Coordinator A is the organization, coordination and implementation of research studies for the Autoimmune Skin Diseases Unit with the Department of Dermatology. The Coordinator will participate as part of a multidisciplinary team member in the care of patients on clinical research protocols. The Coordinator will assist in clinical trial coordination including: participant recruitment, data entry, patient visits, and regulatory management.
Clinical Research Coordinator B: The Clinical Research Coordinator B will be expected to effectively and independently manage multiple trials, while also assisting other coordinators as needed. The CRC B will demonstrate leadership skills within the program, be able to identify common challenges, and brain-storm creative ideas to problem-solve emergent issues.

Job Description
Responsibilities
- Screen, recruit, and enroll potential study participants.
Obtain informed consent in cooperation with the study
investigator(s). This includes approaching potential subjects in
the office, or speaking to them by phone, reviewing their medical
records, and discussing with investigators, asking pre-screening
eligibility questions, etc.
- Coordinate the scheduling of study participants' visits
according to the protocol and conduct all required visits with the
study team.
- Ensure timely data collection and management in accordance with
the study protocol, regulations, and institutional policies.
Maintain source documents, case report forms, and sponsor
Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems.
- Communicate regularly with outside study monitors and sponsors.
Schedule and host site initiation, periodic monitoring, and site
closeout visits.
- Assist with the preparation of study documents for regulatory
approval.
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Duties
Clinical Research Coordinator A: Responsibilities include coordination of the day-to-day operations of the study unit, including recruitment, registration and enrollment of subjects into several ongoing and new studies; data entry and management; and coordination of all other study activities for clinical trials required by sponsors, CROs and relevant research organizations at Penn.
The CRC A will host periodic monitoring visits with pharmaceutical companies and ensure that all records are updated and readily available to the study unit, the university, sponsors and their affiliates and the Food and Drug Administration, upon request. Additional duties may be assigned.
Clinical Research Coordinator B: In addition to the above, the CRC B will be expected to take on greater leadership responsibilities within the research unit. This includes independently managing multiple trials from startup to closeout and providing assistance to other staff in day to day operations. Additionally, they will be expected to proactively identify potential issues and develop solutions to be discussed within the unit.
Additional duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
CRC-A:
Bachelor's Degree with 1-2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
CRC-B:
Bachelors Degree with 2-4 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
For Both Roles:
Knowledge of clinical trials, research operations, GCP, and human research protection regulations strongly preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required. Previous experience with EMR (EPIC,) CTMS, and EDC systems preferred.
The following are essential for success in this role: excellent communication (verbal and written), organizational, and time management skills; flexibility and problem solving ability to be able to adapt to evolving situations; strong detail-orientation and interpersonal skills.
