Classification Salary Range:

The CSU Salary Range for this position is $4,610 - $6,556 per month.

About the Department/Position:

Under general supervision of the Associate Director of Admissions, the incumbent will perform the following: coordinate application processing for special programs/applicants such as Returning students, Athletes, Nursing, Organizational Leadership Studies, Veterans, Foster Youth, and other groups. Is also responsible for evaluation of records for admission eligibility and credit toward degrees; interprets and applies provisions of Title V of the California administrative code and University policies relating to admission. Analyzes the academic records of first-time freshman applicants; transfer applicants; and specialized programs; determines eligibility for admission; advises applicants, students and faculty on state and university requirements for degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level; monitors the flow of applicant files throughout the admissions process; and performs other related assigned duties. Conducts recruitment visits at high schools and colleges by delivering presentations and admission advising. Incumbent may be required to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Interpret documents from other educational institutions to determine equivalency of degree and courses toward CSU requirements
  • Determine accreditation status of every institution about acceptance of credit.
  • Determine course content, level (lower division, upper division, graduate) unit value and grading from transcript and appropriate catalogs from other institutions
  • Correspond and confer with students regarding evaluation of their prior education institutions and agencies as needed to clarify policies
  • Develop, with assistance from the Associate Director, strategies to accommodate increased work volume, particularly in preparation for peak processing periods and troubleshoot various issues of both staff and student concerns

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience: Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two (2) years of professional experience in Admissions/Recruitment or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
  • Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis
  • Current Driver's License and insured automobile required.
  • Requires daily use of computer, accessing email and student records, using printers, and copier machines. Also requires use of data base programs such as excel, OnBase, Enrollment Management Platform and PeopleSoft.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management.
  • Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations
  • Use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements
  • Reason logically
  • collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies and others in committee work, and student advising and community contacts

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree and Admission/Recruitment experience in higher education.
  • Working knowledge of the practices, procedures, and activities of the program to which assigned.
  • General knowledge of research and interview techniques; and of the principles of individual and group behavior.
  • Obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews
  • Advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required.
  • Recognize multicultural, multisexed and multi aged value systems and work accordingly.
  • Rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions, and programs of the campus to which assigned.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications regarding other program or service areas Services Office.
  • Skilled in prioritizing and organizing work to meet deadlines.
  • Quantitative methods and data entry.
