Financial Aid Counselors report to the Associate Director for Advising and are responsible for a variety of Financial Aid advising, outreach, and administrative functions. All counselor positions require the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and other clients from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. The responsibilities of these positions require the incumbent to have the ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume office. Due to the sensitive nature of financial aid, the incumbent must have the demonstrated ability to be assertive, while exercising tact and empathy in communicating information about processes and outcomes. Candidates will have an opportunity in the process to learn more about and offer a preference between the two types of positions.
Counseling, supervision, and computer-based duties require the incumbent to generally be in the office from 8 am-5 pm Monday-Friday. Additional hours may be needed to accommodate university outreach, or for attendance at training, workshops, and conferences.
