The Department of Educational Sciences, Foundations, and Research (ESFR) at the University of Central Oklahoma seeks to appoint a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Education. The ESFR department at the University of Central Oklahoma is committed to recruiting and maintaining a diverse faculty and to creating a welcoming environment for all.

Position Overview:

Teaches, advises, and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook. This position is a full-time, tenure-track position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for teaching four courses (twelve hours) per semester, including undergraduate Professional Teacher Education and graduate level Secondary Education courses. Candidates should have expertise in pedagogical theory and practice within the field of teacher preparation broadly. This position may be responsible for teaching courses in the following areas: Educational Psychology, Classroom Management, Educational Research, Educational Assessment, and Foundations of American Education. This position requires teaching, advisement, and mentoring of students; engagement in service at the department, college, and university level, and an active program of research, scholarly, and/or creative activity.

Qualifications Required:

Earned doctorate degree in an Education-related field awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Minimum of 3 years of work experience in PK12 education and a demonstrated record of excellence in K12 and/or college teaching.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to design engaging and effective instruction and flexibly adjust to various instructional delivery platforms with a highly diverse student body; willingness to work collaboratively on various teacher education recruitment and retention initiatives; significant familiarity and expertise with the use of online learning management systems, e.g. D2L, Canvas, etc., and virtual learning platforms, e.g. WebEx, Zoom, etc. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
