GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB



Performs accounting duties in maintaining the grants portfolios in the College’s financial records specific to the general ledger and year-end audit.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

  1. Maintains the College’s financial records regarding assigned grants portfolios in the general ledger.
  2. Works in collaboration with the Grants Office on the reconciliation of the grants portfolio to ensure accounts are recorded according to the grantor’s terms and contracts.
  3. Prepares grants month-end and year-end journal entries.
  4. Creates grants budget codes upon the Controller’s direction.
  5. Generates audit schedules for the College’s annual internal audit.
  6. Performs monthly, quarterly and yearly reconciliation of the Foundation Grants.
  7. Works with the Foundation, Grants Office, and Financial Aid on discrepancies related to the Foundation.
  8. Performs the fiscal year-end grants accounting closing process.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Associate degree;
  • Three years of experience in finance;
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); and
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Strong analytical, organization, and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Strong accounting understanding and knowledge;
  • Self-motivation;
  • Experience in higher education; and
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
  • Hearing 1: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound.
  • Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Speaking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including the ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately and concisely.
  • Talking 1: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Visual Acuity 1: Have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading.
