Assistant / Associate Professor of Art History

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Visual Art + Design invites applications for a Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (depending on experience) of Art History position, starting August 8, 2023. Motivated applicants in Art History with expertise in modern and or contemporary art are encouraged to apply. Primary responsibilities consist of teaching courses in art history, such as Art History Survey, Contemporary Art, Modern Art, and 19th Century Art History. A secondary interest in post-colonial, non-western art is desired. Duties include but are not limited to curriculum development, academic advisement of students, and performing university service as requested. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Art History required by the first day of employment. 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
College-level teaching experience beyond graduate school.
Secondary expertise in post-colonial, non-western art

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Ability to teach undergraduate art history courses in art history survey, 19th, 20th, and 21st-century art history, and criticism.
Ability to relate to students and colleagues in a university environment.
